Application

GLYDOL 1196 is an environmentally friendly product which is used for cleaning pressure casting resin moulds (water hazard class 1).
The mode of action of GLYDOL 1196 depends on the fact that its wetting properties loosen deposits, and its complexing properties allow it to rinse out multivalent cations, e. g. calcium, magnesium or aluminium.
With GLYDOL 1196 it is possible to clean the mould pores and capillaries, and/or the mould surface. For cleaning the mould pores, a 1.0 – 3.0 % solution is produced by mixing GLYDOL 1196 with water*. This solution can be introduced into the mould channels or capillaries by water* pressure or vacuum. For cleaning the mould surface, GLYDOL 1196 can be applied to the mould undiluted or diluted with water* in the ratio 1:1.
After a certain contact time, which depends on the degree of soiling or clogging, the mould should be rinsed through several times with water* followed by air. During its contact time, the mould must be kept humid. For this purpose it should be closed.
In order to prevent very rapid ageing of the moulds, they should be cleaned with GLYDOL 1196 even from the very beginning. We recommend cleaning the moulds before a machine stop, and at least once during each working shift.
